Training and development specialists play an essential role in the growth and advancement of the employees in an organization. Without corporate training specialists, there would be a large discrepancy between the employee's needs and the organizations needs or requirements, and this would make it very difficult for the organization to remain competitive. Corporate training specialists need to be keen in determining what the employee's skill levels are and then training them to meet the organizations goals.Part of this process is the training specialists create or select training programs for the employees, and then report to training managers to allocate the budget for these programs. Corporate trainers usually have the freedom to choose which training method to apply for the greatest impact, such as training manuals, videos, team exercises or other software programs. They must also supervise the employees training for results and to evaluate whether the training programs are effective and updated.Corporate trainers must also base their training on the needs of the company and inform the employees of the goals of the company. This is a very promising field to enter right now because the expectations for quality of work keep on rising, as well as the protocols and regulations so there always need to be capable, motivated individuals that want to help employees become better at the work they do. Also, as more countries outside the United States are becoming more advanced there are a great deal of eager, potential individuals who can contribute to U.S. businesses but just need the guidance.

Education and Training

A great portion of corporate trainers might have a background in an education field, and many tend to receive a bachelor's degree in training and development, human resources, or instructional design. However, an educational background is not required, corporate trainers can have degrees in multiple other fields such as business or organizational psychology. Also, the current corporate training world is becoming increasingly technologically savvy, and therefore a background in computer science or information technology can be very beneficial. It will also be helpful for individuals who are seeking this occupation to take some public speaking classes because confidently speaking is very crucial for the job. Also, many trainers require a great deal of previous work experience, and many companies might even prefer the past work experience to be specialized to what that company does. Although not required, some corporate trainers might advance themselves by receiving certifications from institutes such as American Society for Training and Development or International Society for Performance Improvement.

Work Environment

Most corporate trainers will be working in an office setting, and the bulk of their work environment will be interacting with employees, giving them presentations, and hands on training activities. For this reason, corporate trainers need to be flexible because they might need to travel to their client's location or go to different places for training activities. Corporate training specialists will usually work normal business hours and not have strict deadlines.
